The back story
Toyota Financial Services (TFS) is the largest motor vehicle finance company in New Zealand. It provides vehicle finance, leasing and insurance products to customers via 50 Toyota centres nationwide, and direct through offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and online. It’s 100% owned by Toyota Financial Services Corporation of Japan, which operates in 30 countries worldwide.
When we began working with TFS, it was a rapidly-growing business that had some IT resources internally, plus IT support from multiple third party partners. These partners were struggling to cope with both the company’s complex network infrastructure, and the high-level security and firewall requirements needed to meet the sensitive data reporting demands from Japan. TFS challenged us to deliver a better IT user experience, reduce network costs, and ensure a high level of IT security, while equipping the company for growth.
In addition to 24/7, instant access to our IT helpdesk, TFS benefit from two Origin IT staff based permanently at their head office: one providing on-site engineering expertise, and one leading on-premise project delivery (which has included a migration to Azure, and design and replacement of core infrastructure). We’ve provided them with a dedicated virtual CIO and virtual CISO, and access to an expert team of consultants, engineers and project managers in areas such as virtualisation, network security, and disaster recovery.

We’ve also delivered world-class IT security: Our proactive monitoring and maintenance processes have resulted in TFS New Zealand recording the lowest number of vulnerabilities per host across the entire TFS group of companies worldwide.
